Welcome to the Mrs. Dalloway Mapping Project!
The goal of this project is essentially to clarify the occasionally confusing novel Mrs. Dalloway as well as to point out some interesting aspects of the work that are not usually considered in its discussion. Spread over the website is a series of interactive, annotated maps of London that serve as a guide to the novel. The maps show the paths the main characters follow over the course of the novel and are linked to analyses of the text organized by event, location, and time. For a more elaborate reflection on the purpose of this project, see the Purpose tab above.
How to use this website
Click the character names at the top of the page to navigate through this website.
Each page has an interactive map that traces the path of said character(s) throughout the day along with explanations and analyses of that character's interactions throughout the day. When you click on the flagged points on the map, you will see a short description of the event that occurs there. Analyses are organized by event below the map.
The map below is an overall map encompassing each character's individual map. The dots represent a character's start point, and the lines represent his or her path taken over the course of the day. Mrs. Dalloway is represented with red, Peter with blue, and Septimus and Rezia with green.
